Christ Lutheran Church, UAC

Christ Lutheran Church, established in 1889, proclaimed the gospel on the corner of West 43rd and Robert Avenue until 2010. In late 2010 we were forced to sell our lovely but aging sanctuary, and are presently worshiping in the sanctuary of Unity Lutheran Church (4542 Pearl Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44109). Soon to be worshipping at our new to us sanctuary 13811 Bellaire Rd. Cleveland, Ohio 44135 This congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod holds itself out as a historic, classical and confessional Lutheran church. All this is by God's mercy, and not by our own cleverness or brilliance. Because God's spirit enables us, we celebrate holy communion each Lord's Day and on Feast Days. We are committed to the church's historic liturgy, and our services are conducted with reverence. Our preaching and teaching are in accord with holy scripture as it is understood in the Lutheran confession of faith, the Book of Concord. Christ Lutheran Church practices closed communion, which means that only members in good standing of LCMS congregations may commune at our altar. Others (including ELCA) wishing to learn of the blessings of holy communion, and to prepare to receive it, can receive instruction from the pastor. If you have received holy communion as a member of another denomination, you must still be instructed, and confess the Lutheran faith before communing at our altar. For those wishing to learn more we encourage you to attend, and to listen, learn and participate as you become familiar with the church's culture. If a person so desires, he can then begin formal instruction with the pastor leading to full membership. Please contact Pastor Kavouras with any questions, or for pastoral counsel if needed. Pastor Kavouras is a long standing chaplain with Cleveland's safety forces and the FBI, and extends a special welcome to all LE, fire and EMS officers searching for a church.
