Julie Brown is a Certified Sivananda Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour level. She has been practicing yoga since the beginning of 2008. Not knowing what yoga really was, she signed up for a class with Tiiu Gennert (Owner/Direct of Studio 11 in Tremont) at Tri-C. Tiiu was so inspiring and caring, Julie signed up for yoga classes with her four semesters in a row! Julie has been inspired by her many teachers at the Sivananda Yoga Ranch Ashram, Studio 11, Vision Yoga, friends, family and her students, at the end of the day, she feels so grateful to share yoga with all of them. Being from the desolate plains of Colorado, Julie never knew she would end up on the path she is traveling. She has received her BBA in Accounting from Cleveland State University, graduating with honors. She is also a Thai yoga massage practitioner. She can often be found practicing yoga in the Cleveland area. She loves chanting, going to spiritual workshops, making new friends, her two cats (Sugar and Divya), spending time with loved ones, and appreciating art and the world around her. Her style of teaching is compassionate, but she still enjoys challenging her students. She loves teaching the Sivananda style, which works from the Crown Chakra to the Root Chakra, and ends in a deep relaxation using auto suggestion by walking the students through relaxing each part of their body. To Julie, relaxation is a key part of her yoga classes. In her own words, "Yoga has changed and enhanced my life in so many ways. I used to suffer severe back pain, from a surgery in 2004, but yoga has taken much of that pain away. The biggest difference is with the increased patience and compassion I receive from yoga. I have moved so many times and had so many 'homes' but the place I feel most at peace, whether it be meditating, practicing japa, or moving in and out of asanas, is my yoga mat...this is my true home."
Yoga is a very beautiful practice...sometimes its the breath, the movement, the stillness, or the combination of all 3 that bring us together (as our whole selves and/or as a community) 🕉🕉🕉🙏🙏🙏
