Canton Central School District

Leading all North Country schools, Canton’s Hugh C. Williams Senior High School earned a gold medal in U.S. News and World Report’s 2013 Best High Schools rankings of America’s high schools. Rankings are determined through a quantitative methodology involving three factors: the performance of all of a school’s students on state proficiency tests; the performance of a school’s least advantaged students compared to similar students in the state; and the college readiness performance of its students as measured using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data. Based on these criteria, Canton ranked 55 of 1,149 high schools in the state of New York, a top 5% ranking statewide, and 430 of 21,035 high schools in the United States, a top 2% ranking nationally.
